Affordable housing in Kootenays gets millions in funding - Cranbrook Daily Townsman

The Columbia Basin Trust announced $5.8 million in funding for energy retrofits and solar installations at non-profit affordable housing facilities across the Kootenays region.

The funding supports upgrades to 1,097 housing units in communities including Cranbrook, Fernie, Kimberley, Creston, and Sparwood. This initiative, delivered in partnership with BC Non-Profit Housing Association and BC Housing, also leveraged an additional $4.5 million from other sources. The comprehensive retrofits focus on improving energy efficiency while reducing utility costs and environmental impacts for residents.
